Last year nearly 500 blankets were tested and 37% failed the tests. With over 40 house fires in the UK caused each year by electric blankets it makes sense to have your blanket checked. People attending the sessions are offered home safety visits which can include the fitting of free smoke alarms. Comments from last year include: ‘My blanket passed, so I am relieved & happy with the testing session.’ ‘I’m really grateful for this service because otherwise I would have continued to use my faulty blanket’.
