We have been notified by Highways England of upcoming work on the A27 as follows:
Work is about to start on the A27 between the Falmer junction and the Southerham roundabout to maintain safety and improve the journey for road users.
This work will be carried out in phases starting the evening of Monday 31 July. To minimise disruption they’ll work overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am, when there are fewer vehicles on the road. The road will be open as usual during the day.
While the road is closed they’ll be carrying out a number of activities, including repairs, replacing the expansion joints, waterproofing and resurfacing of the bridges that pass over the River Ouse and the railway line, along with sections of resurfacing.
Monday 31 July to Wednesday 2 August – A27 eastbound closed Falmer to the Ashcombe (Kingston) roundabout, 8pm to 6am each night.
- Monday 14 to Friday 18 August – A27 westbound closed Southerham to Ashcombe (Kingston) roundabouts, 8pm to 6am each night.
- Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August – A27 eastbound closed Falmer to Ashcombe (Kingston) roundabout, 8pm to 6am.
- Wednesday 30 August to Friday 1 September – A27 eastbound closed Falmer to Ashcombe (Kingston) roundabout, 8pm to 6am.
All dates are inclusive.
There may also be a lane closed on the opposite carriageway during the full closures for safety. The Ashcombe (Kingston) and Southerham roundabouts will remain open as usual throughout.
A diversion will be in place via the A270, A23, A259 and A26. For businesses and properties with direct access off the A27, an escort will be provided during the closures.
