Last week Polegate Town Council set its budget and precept for 2022/23. The budget was kept to below inflation at 2.27%, which is an increase of only £2.51 per year, 5 pence per week on a BAND D property and less for lower bands.

The Council felt that it was important to keep the increase as low as possible given the higher costs households face and have worked hard to try to ensure it maintains and hopefully improves services with a minimal increase Council Tax.

The Mayor, Cllr Douglas Murray, stated that “Once again 2021 has been an incredibly difficult year for most people and with larger rises in the council tax from the other precepting authorities the Town Council could ease the burden, absorb some of the costs for the coming year and keep the precept low as possible.”
