You’re invited to join the Friends of Polegate Jubilee Nature Reserve at the nature reserve on Monday, 11th November, for an informative session with Strandliners, a grassroots volunteer organization based in East Sussex. Strandliners specializes in testing waterways for plastic pollution and records data for organizations like the Marine Conservation Society. You can learn more about their work on their website. (https://strandliners.org/)
Currently, Strandliners is partnering with Blue Heart, an initiative focused on finding innovative ways to predict and reduce the impact of flooding in Eastbourne and southern Wealden. As part of this project, Strandliners tested the stream running through Brightling Rec (which continues through the reserve) earlier this year. They are now returning to provide an update and discuss their ongoing efforts within the Blue Heart project.
Please meet at the reserve entrance for a 10:30 AM start. The session will last approximately 90 minutes. No booking is required, but be sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear, especially if the rainy weather continues. Please note that dogs are not allowed.
