A new pre-school has officially opened in Polegate, with the Mayor of Polegate, Cllr Stephen Shing, attending the launch and cutting the ribbon at Poppetts Pre-School.
Owned and managed by Chelsea Page, Poppetts will provide a caring and nurturing environment for children aged 2 to 4, helping them learn, play, build confidence and reach important early milestones.
Chelsea has worked in Early Years education since the age of 18 and has always dreamed of opening her own pre-school. The name Poppetts holds special significance, as it was the affectionate nickname her late father gave her.
With the support of family and friends, Chelsea transformed the premises into a welcoming setting featuring a spacious indoor learning area, garden and upstairs activity space. The pre-school employs a team of five experienced Early Years practitioners and successfully completed its Ofsted registration in July 2026.
During the opening ceremony, the Mayor congratulated Chelsea and everyone involved in bringing the project to life.
Cllr Shing said:
“It is a great pleasure to officially open Poppetts Pre-School. Chelsea’s hard work, determination and the incredible support of her family and friends have turned her dream into reality. I wish Chelsea, her team, all the children and their families every success for the future.”
The event was attended by family, friends and supporters before concluding with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Poppetts Pre-School will welcome its first children on Monday 7 September 2026 and looks forward to becoming a valued part of the Polegate community.
